Ugly Rolls Glyfada
Ugly Rolls Glyfada is a compact pastry shop located in the Athenian suburb of Glyfada. Designed as a small-scale intervention that gives a modest shopfront a clear and recognisable presence within the streetscape.
The façade is defined by a metal-framed glazing system and a striped awning that gives the shop a simple identity. Two vertically opening service windows extend the counter outward, allowing coffee and cinnamon rolls to be served directly to passers-by and encouraging an informal relationship between the shop and the street.
Inside, the layout is organised around two linear preparation counters, with all working functions positioned along their perimeter to maximise the limited floor area. Stainless steel surfaces are combined with timber joinery and the brand's signature colours to form a restrained material palette that is both durable and inviting.
The interior is structured as two connected zones: a front counter serves customers either through the opening windows or inside the shop, and a visible production area at the back, where the preparation of the cinnamon rolls becomes part of the customer experience.
By balancing openness with privacy, the project transforms a small retail space into an efficient, warm and welcoming environment.
