Corfu Pavilion

Set within an olive grove, the Gym Pavilion is conceived as a quiet intervention in the landscape. The structure settles into the terrain and the existing rock formations, creating a place for exercise that feels inseparable from its natural surroundings.

Embedded between stone retaining walls and natural outcrops, the pavilion sits lightly on the slope. Instead of imposing a new geometry, the architecture continues the logic of the terraced ground. Stone elements appear to emerge from the earth, softening the boundary between built form and geological presence.

A simple rectilinear volume — defined by glass, local stone, and a light-toned concrete roof — forms the enclosed space. Its transparency maintains an uninterrupted visual connection to the olive trees, shrubs, and distant greenery, turning exercise into an experience of immersion in nature. Vertical curtains filter daylight and create a gentle, calm interior atmosphere, balancing openness with a sense of protection.
The pavilion is imagined as a retreat for both body and mind — a space where physical activity unfolds in direct conversation with the terrain, light, and vegetation of Corfu.
